Description
The building is a cowhouse with a granary above, dating from around 1800. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with red sandstone dressings and features a stone slate roof. Together with the barn and cart-shed opposite, it forms a U-shaped range. The structure is two storeys high and has four windows on the first floor. It includes quoins and four doorways with deep lintels and tie-stone jambs. The first doorway has two small windows on either side, and another window is located between the third and fourth doorways. The first-floor windows are evenly spaced, set under the eaves, and have thin lintels.
At the rear, there is a low segmental-arched cart entry with an inserted wooden lintel below the arch and double doors. The first-floor doorway has a sandstone sill, and to the right end, there is a window with a keyed lintel. The left-hand return features a first-floor doorway that is accessed by a flight of nine stone steps.
The interior was only partially inspected, revealing rooms on the ground floor with square-cut spine beams and joists, and the walls include feeding racks.
