Description

This milestone, located approximately 20 meters north of the junction with Carr Lane, dates from the mid-19th century. It features a round-arched stone base that is overlaid with a cast-iron section shaped like a triangle. The letters on the milestone are in relief. The top of the milestone reads "LEEDS & COLLINGHAM ROAD THORNER." The left face indicates that Collingham is 4½ miles away, while the right face shows distances to Leeds, Wetherby, and York, which are 6 miles, 6½ miles, and 20 miles respectively.
