Description
No. 8 Front Street is a house that has been converted into an office. It dates from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century and the 20th century. The building features painted render over brick and has a pantiled roof, with the gable facing the street.
The exterior consists of two storeys. On the left side of the facade, there is a two-storey canted bay window that has glazing bar sashes and a dentilled cornice leading to a flat roof. The door, located on the right, has six raised and fielded panels and a shallow overlight with seven small panes. It is sheltered by a porch with fluted columns and a plain entablature. To the right of the door, there is a small casement window. Adjacent to this is the front wall of a two-storey lean-to addition that matches the main style. The first floor of this addition has a glazing bar sash window, while the ground floor features a panelled door within a pilaster doorcase. A chimney is visible towards the rear, to the left of the ridge.
The interior has not been inspected, but records indicate that there are three late 18th-century fireplaces.
