Description
No. 62 York Road is a church school built in 1848, now used as an office, and converted in the 1980s. The building is constructed of mottled brick with limestone ashlar dressings and has a slate roof. It is a single-storey structure aligned north-south, featuring a projecting wing on the east side that includes a porch on its south wall.
The south gable, which faces the road, has diagonal buttresses and projecting verges. It features a window with three lights and a transom, all with segmental arches. Above this window, there is a plaque that reads: 'ERECTED BY THE REVd ORB 1848'. The right-hand return wall, facing east, consists of three bays separated by buttresses and has mullioned windows with two, three, and two lights, all with segmental heads. The porch has a hipped roof, and to the right of the door, there is a single-light window. The door is framed by a chamfered ashlar surround with a shouldered arch. The east gable of the wing mirrors the design of the south gable. There are chimneys with paired diagonal shafts on the main ridge and the ridge of the wing. The interior has not been inspected.
