Description

The Independent Order of Oddfellows, located at No. 7 Jarratt Street in Kingston upon Hull, is a house that now serves as friendly society offices. It was built around 1800, with alterations made around 1875 and in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick, featuring a rendered basement and painted ashlar dressings, topped with a slate roof and two side wall stacks.

The structure has three storeys plus a basement and is arranged in a two-window range. Each upper floor has two plain sash windows, with the second-floor windows being smaller. All of these windows have slightly cambered keystone lintels. On the ground floor, to the right, there are stone steps leading to a wooden doorcase that features engaged Doric columns and a moulded pediment, which frames a late 20th-century half-glazed door and a plain fanlight. To the left, there is a square wooden bay window with a cornice, containing a central plain sash flanked by two smaller round-headed plain sashes. The basement includes a late 20th-century single-pane window. Surrounding the property are plain wrought-iron area railings.
