Description

The former dock offices, built around 1810 with an early 19th-century addition, are located on Dock Office Row in Kingston upon Hull. The building is constructed of red brick with painted ashlar dressings and features hipped slate roofs, along with single side wall and rear wall stacks. It has a plinth, sill bands, a first-floor band, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The structure is two storeys tall and has an eight-window range of 12-pane sashes with brick flat arches, arranged in a 5:3 pattern.

The original block on the left has a projecting centre with three windows, topped by a pediment that contains a roundel. Above this, there is an octagonal wooden cupola with a lead dome, finial, and weather vane. Below, a shallow portico supported by paired Doric columns and a dentillated cornice covers a panelled double door, which is flanked by sidelights and features a segmental overlight with round panes. On either side of the portico, there are two windows.

The addition on the right has three windows on each floor. The left return features five windows, along with a blocked doorway that has a glazing bar fanlight, flanked by three windows on the left and a single window on the right. The right return has a blank wall flanked by a single window on the right, and below it, there is another blank wall flanked by a blocked round-headed door with a fanlight. Inside, there is a top-lit elliptical hall with a stone stair.
