Description

This is a late 18th-century house, now used as offices, located on a triangular corner plot in Kingston upon Hull. The brick structure has a rendered plinth, ashlar dressings, and a hipped and gabled slate roof. The front elevation has three storeys and originally featured six windows. The ground floor now has a late 20th-century wooden shop front; to the left is a recessed entrance with a wooden doorcase featuring Doric columns and a pediment, leading to a half-glazed door with fanlight. To the right is a shop window with decorative glazing bars. Above are two 12-pane sashes on the first floor and two smaller 12-pane sashes on the second floor, all with rendered lintels. The right return, facing Manor Street, has two tripartite sash windows and a 12-pane sash on the first floor, and similar windows above, with a 9-pane sash to the left on the second floor, all with keystone lintels. The left return has a renewed 20-pane sash on the first floor and a two-light Yorkshire sash with glazing bars above it; on the ground floor is a blocked door surrounded by a 20th-century door with fanlight and a beaded 6-panel door. The interior features a wooden winder staircase with vase newel, but lacking balusters, and is supported by round cast-iron posts on the first floor.
