Description

This is an office building dating from 1870, designed by W Botterill. It is constructed of yellow brick with ashlar dressings, and the roof is not visible. The building has a plinth and a moulded dentilated cornice featuring end pedestals and ball finials. It is two storeys high, with a three-window facade. The windows are segment-headed sashes with scroll keystones and corbelled sills incorporating cast-iron guards. Above the windows, a linked hoodmould is supported by short, enriched pilasters on corbels. The ashlar doorcase features panelled pilasters with foliate capitals and an enriched segmental pediment, enclosing a panelled door with an overlight. Above the door is a moulded round-arched window opening with an oval finial. To the left of the door are two plain sashes with moulded surrounds and enriched keystones, sharing a common cornice with two oval finials, and a common corbelled sill with cast-iron window guards. A segment-arched opening provides access to the cellar.
