Description
King's Buildings is a warehouse built in 1875 by W Botterill, now used as shops. It features yellow brick with an ashlar ground floor and decorative dressings. The building has a plinth, a cornice at the ground floor, string courses, moulded eaves, and a blocking. The central entrance bay slightly projects and is topped with a segmental pediment, while the projecting end bays are defined by rusticated pilasters.
The structure is four storeys high with a seven-window range. The first floor has seven plain sash windows, and the floor above has seven smaller sash windows, all with cornices. The top floor features seven smaller segment-headed sashes with shaped keystones. The ground floor has bays defined by pilasters and segment-headed openings, also with shaped keystones. The central doorway has double doors with shaped moulded panels and an overlight, flanked by three single-pane windows with barred heads.
On the left return, there is a single bay with a window on each floor to the right, and to the left, a range with four windows arranged in a 3:2 pattern. The ground floor on the left has three small segment-headed windows with cellar openings below, while to the right, there is a 20th-century door and a larger segment-headed window. Additionally, there is a segment-arched carriage opening further to the left.
