Description

The George Hotel is a public house located in Kingston upon Hull, dating from the mid-18th century. It was refronted around 1870 and has undergone alterations in the mid and late 20th century. The building features a stucco front with decorative dressings and a steep pitched hipped pantile roof.

It stands three storeys high and has a seven-window range arranged in a 2:5 pattern. The main entrance, located to the right, includes a slightly projecting central bay and a cornice at the ground floor. The ground floor has five plain sash windows with arch-topped moulded eared surrounds and bracketed sills. Above these, there are five smaller plain sashes that feature keystones and label moulds on brackets.

The ground floor also includes four 2-light cross casements with louvred shutters, and to the right, there is a 20th-century panelled door. To the left, a slightly recessed bay contains two plain sashes with eared and shouldered surrounds, and above, there are two smaller sashes with hoodmoulds on brackets. Additionally, there is a square-headed carriage entrance with a pair of panelled folding doors. The interior has been mainly remodeled in the mid and late 20th century.
