Description

No. 1 High Street is a house dating from around 1800, with alterations made in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of brick, which is painted on the front, and features an asbestos cement roof and a rendered gable stack. It has a rendered plinth and dentillated brick eaves. The house is two storeys tall with additional garrets and has a three-window range. The windows have splayed lintels. On the right side, there are two similar windows, while on the left, there is a wooden doorcase with pilasters and a cornice, leading to a recessed six-panel door with an overlight and three stone steps. The left return of the building has two three-light casements, and above them, there is a central panelled loft door. Below this, there is a central three-light casement. The angled rear bay features a two-light window between the floors and a smaller window at the garret level. At the time of the survey, the house was vacant and boarded up.
