Description

Number 9 is a house with attached railings, built around 1800, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick, featuring a painted basement and painted ashlar dressings, topped with a slate roof and a single side wall stack. It has a basement lintel band, ground and first-floor sill bands, and a moulded wooden gutter with brackets. The house stands three storeys high, plus a basement, and has a two-window range. The original windows have slightly cambered multi keystone lintels, with two plain sashes on the ground floor and a late 20th-century two-light casement to the right. Above, there are two unequally hung glazing bar sashes. The ground floor features steps leading to a restored doorcase with Doric columns and a dentillated pediment, which holds a beaded six-panel door and a plain fanlight. The basement includes a 20th-century cross casement window, flanked on the right by a half-glazed door. The exterior is complemented by cast-iron area railings.
