Description
The Punch Bowl Hotel is a public house built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building is two stories high and features three bays. It has a top frieze and cornice, and the windows are fitted with wedge lintels and tripartite sashes that include glazing bars. The central entrance is round-headed and flanked by panelled pilasters, topped with a complete fanlight and a six-panel door. There are signs of a possibly removed feature, likely a window, above the entrance. The hotel has gable-end stacks and a large wing at the rear, which has a wedge lintel on the east side inscribed with "M. BOWKER/AD 1826." There is a 20th-century extension to the west. Inside, the hotel has small rooms and a dog-leg stair with stick balusters.
