Description
The building comprises a former late 17th-century farmhouse and barn, now converted into residential use. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and a slate roof. The farmhouse is of two storeys and four bays, while the barn is of three bays. The south facade has 19th-century three-light mullioned windows to the first three bays; one window features a cut-brick flat arch, and the fourth bay has a projecting four-light window with a transom and weathered head, above a cogged brick band. A left return shows a projecting ground-floor window and a first-floor window with a flat arch. Two cross-axial stacks are present. The main entrance is in a glazed porch, located in the second bay. The barn has ventilation slots and a central blocked entrance. The roof was damaged by fire in 1985, but remaining collar and strut trusses with wind braces and through purlins are visible. The right return includes an entrance with a gauged-brick elliptical arch. The rear of the farmhouse has casements, and a 19th-century wing of no particular interest is also present. The barn interior extends over the ground floor of the fourth bay of the farmhouse. The rear of the barn includes pigsties to the first bay, with a lean-to roof; a window above has a cambered head and stone quoins. A relieving arch is visible over the entrance to the second bay, and a segmental-headed entrance, now blocked, is present in the third bay, with a later outshut.
