Description
Well Cottage is a house from the 18th century, with a datestone that originally displayed an 18th-century date but is now eroded. The building is constructed of brick and features a slate roof. It has two storeys and two bays, with a band above the ground floor. The ground floor windows have gauged brick cambered arches and casements, while the first-floor windows are three-light horizontally sliding sashes. The entrance, located to the left, also has a gauged brick cambered arch. The left side of the house features a projecting gable-end stack, and the right side facing the street has a datestone and a blocked window. The rear of the house includes an outshut and some horizontally sliding sashes. Inside, there is a baffle at the entrance, possibly leading to an inglenook fireplace. The interior also features two doors with 18th-century architraves, and the staircase has turned balusters, a moulded handrail, and a closed string, which is said to have been taken from the pulpit of St. Helen's church.
