Description

This is a terrace of six houses located on Wellington Street, built in the mid-19th century and altered over time. The houses are constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond, with Nos. 10 and 12 featuring painted stone dressings. The slate roof is designed in a late Georgian style.

Each house is two storeys high with cellars and has a symmetrical design, stepping slightly up a slope from right to left. The terrace features a total of 18 windows, with three for each house, and includes a generous full-height bow for each unit. Architectural details include a moulded brick plinth, a first-floor sill band, and an oversailing dentilled and moulded gutter cornice that runs across each pair of houses.

Access to each house is via a flight of five steps leading to a tall square-headed doorway, which has a moulded architrave, a dentilled cornice, and a panelled door with an overlight. Above each doorway, there is one window, and two additional windows on each floor of the bow. The windows have moulded architraves, with No. 12 featuring 4-pane sashes, while the others have altered glazing. Notably, Nos. 2 and 8 have large flat-roofed dormers, and No. 10 has a very small one. The houses also have tall chimneys on both the front and rear slopes, with those at Nos. 2, 10, and 12 featuring prominent cornices, while the others have been altered. The rear and interiors of the houses were not inspected.
