Description
A terrace of 18 houses, numbered 1 to 17 consecutively, built around 1845. The houses are constructed of buff stock brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with gabled roofs covered in Welsh and artificial slate, and brick ridge stacks. The terrace follows a crescent-shaped plan, with two storeys and a basement, each house having two windows.
The basement level features rendered flat arches over 8/8 sash windows, with some later 19th-century 2/2 sash windows. Steps lead to a semi-circular arched doorway with a mid-19th century four-panelled door set in wood architraves and pilaster jambs; numbers 7, 11, and 13 to 16 have 20th-century replacement doors. Round-arched brick arches are above the ground-floor sash windows, which retain glazing bars. The first floor features gauged brick flat arches over 6/6 and 8/8 sash windows, again with some later 19th-century 2/2 sash windows. A stucco string course runs across the façade, topped by a dentilled brick cornice. Dormers in the roof have 3/3 sash windows and casements. Wrought-iron railings enclose the front courtyards. The rear windows also have glazing bars.
The interior of number 17 retains panelled doors, moulded plaster cornices, and a dog-leg staircase with winders, stick balusters, and turned newels. The interior of number 10 has been altered to include a full-height staircase. No other interiors have been inspected. The terrace is recorded as having been first occupied in 1846.
