Description
No. 30 Marine Crescent is a house that is part of a terraced row, built around 1826 to 1830 and altered over time. It features painted stucco and a slate roof with rendered chimneys on both sides. The house has a double-depth single-fronted layout with a back extension, standing two storeys high and having two windows.
The front includes a four-bay verandah supported by elegant cast-iron standards made of pairs of shafts with scroll designs, topped with a shallow hipped slate roof. On the ground floor, there is a tall square-headed doorway on the left with a panelled door and a plain overlight, along with a canted bay window that has 20th-century glazing. The first floor has windows with shouldered surrounds, also featuring 20th-century glazing.
The interior has not been inspected. The house is adjacent to No. 29 on the right and No. 31 on the left. Together with other listed buildings in Marine Crescent, as well as those in Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn, and Marine Terrace, it contributes to a group within the Waterloo Conservation Area of Crosby.
