Description
This is a mid-19th century house located on Wellington Street in Crosby. It is a double-fronted building, originally designed with a double-depth plan. The front is rendered with a roughcast finish and has a slate roof.
The house has two storeys and an attic, and originally had a symmetrical arrangement of three windows. The ground floor features a pilastered doorway with a decorative frieze and cornice above. The recessed panelled door has an overlight with a rectilinear tracery design. To the left of the doorway is a top-hung casement window that mimics a four-pane sash. To the right is a shallow, wooden, canted bay window with altered glazing. The upper floor has four-pane sash windows; the windows on the left and right do not have horns and have margin panes. A skylight is set into the front slope of the roof, and there are chimneys on the side walls.
The left gable wall contains a doorway in the centre, flanked by top-hung casement windows imitating twelve-pane and four-pane sashes. A pair of attic windows, also with twelve-pane top-hung casements, are located above. The rear of the property and the interior have not been inspected. The house is listed for its contribution to the group value it shares with numbers 2 to 12 (even) on the opposite side of Wellington Street.
