Description

This house, dating from approximately 1826 to 1830, is part of a terraced row in Crosby. The building is constructed of painted stucco with a slate roof and has stuccoed chimneys on both the left and right sides. It is a double-depth, double-fronted design and features a symmetrical facade with three windows. A moulded gutter cornice runs along the top of the building.

Attached to the front is a double-width verandah with a low front wall featuring sunk panels, fluted piers and a moulded cornice. The verandah has wooden posts with wavy brackets supporting a “balustraded” frieze, and is covered by a lead-clad roof. The ground floor has a square-headed doorway surrounded by fluted detailing, with a panelled door and plain overlight. It is flanked by large canted bay windows with casements and square-paned stained glass in the upper sections. The first floor has a pair of smaller canted bay windows with altered glazing and flat roofs, and a small rectangular window in the centre.

The interior has not been inspected. The building adjoins number 7 to the left. Together with the listed buildings in Marine Crescent, Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn and Marine Terrace, it forms a group within the Waterloo Conservation Area of Crosby.
