Description
No. 8 Marine Crescent is a house that is part of a terraced row, built around 1826 to 1830 and has been altered over time. The exterior features painted stucco, a slate roof with red ridge tiles, and a stuccoed chimney on the left side. The house has a double-depth, single-fronted layout with a back extension and stands two stories tall with two windows. It has a moulded gutter cornice and a three-bay verandah supported by slender cast-iron columns, which includes a frieze with diamond patterns and a lead-clad roof.
On the ground floor, there is a square-headed doorway on the right with a moulded architrave and a panelled half-glazed door, along with two tall windows that have three-stage sashed glazing. The first floor features two rectangular windows with altered glazing. The interior has not been inspected. The house is adjacent to No. 7 on the right and No. 9 on the left. All the listed buildings in Marine Crescent, along with those in Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn, and Marine Terrace, contribute to a group within the Waterloo Conservation Area of Crosby.
