Description

This is a house, forming part of a terraced row, dating from approximately 1826-30. It was altered at a later date. The house is constructed of painted stucco with a slate roof, featuring a stuccoed chimney stack shared with the adjacent property at number 13. It has a double-depth, single-fronted plan with a rear extension. The two-storey facade has two windows. A moulded gutter cornice runs along the top. A simple two-bay verandah with a lead-clad roof is attached to the front. The ground floor features a square-headed doorway with a moulded architrave and a half-glazed door, to the left. The original window on the ground floor has been altered into a large canted bay with French windows. The first floor has a pair of canted flat-roofed oriels with 20th-century glazing and moulded cornices. The interior of the house has not been inspected. The property adjoins number 13 to the right and number 15 to the left. The listed buildings of Marine Crescent, along with those in Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn, and Marine Terrace, form a group that contributes to the character of the Waterloo Conservation Area of Crosby.
