Description

This house, built around 1826 to 1830, is part of a terraced row in Crosby. It's an example of a double-fronted house with a double-depth plan and a rear extension. The exterior is painted stucco with a slate roof and stuccoed chimneys on either side. The front is symmetrical, with three windows per floor and a moulded gutter cornice. A distinctive verandah with three bays, cast-iron columns, and elaborate, decorative tracery is attached to the front. The ground floor features a modern glazed porch over a large doorway with a moulded architrave and overlight, flanked by large, modern bay windows without glazing bars. The first floor has three modern, flat-roofed oriels. The interior has not been inspected. The building adjoins numbers 10 and 12 within Marine Crescent. Together with buildings in Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn, and Marine Terrace, it forms a group contributing to the character of the Crosby Waterloo Conservation Area.
