Description
This building, located at 123 Liverpool Road in Crosby, is a house that has been converted into two dwellings. It likely dates from the early to mid-19th century and has undergone some alterations. The exterior features pebble-dashed render with sandstone dressings painted white and a tiled roof. The structure is two storeys tall with a high service basement and has a symmetrical double-depth double-fronted plan.
The front includes a painted plinth, regular quoining, and a moulded gutter cornice with a blocking course. The basement has two rectangular windows with plain surrounds; the left window has metal shutters, while the right has sashed glazing that is now painted black. These flank a quarter-turned flight of stone steps, consisting of seven steps followed by three steps, which are protected by renewed bar railings. At the top of the steps is a large round-headed doorway with a keyed moulded surround and a set-in wooden doorcase featuring two fluted columns. The door itself is a 20th-century part-glazed design, topped by a moulded cornice and a large plain fanlight.
On either side of the doorway are rectangular windows with quoined surrounds that include keystones, and there are three matching windows above, all of which are sashed without glazing bars. The building has gable copings and gable chimneys. The rear of the property has not been inspected.
Inside, the layout has been altered, but the two-room basement includes a former kitchen on the right, which features a damaged cast-iron cooking range and a stone table.
