Description
Cassis is a terrace of eight small houses located on the south side of Trinity Terrace in Weymouth, built after 1850. Nos. 3 and 4 feature Flemish bond brickwork, while the other houses are rendered, all topped with slate mansard roofs. Each house has two storeys and an attic, with a single window on the front. Early dormers can be found on Nos. 6, 7, and 9, while the others have 20th-century dormers. All houses feature a bowed oriel window on the first floor, with glazing-bar sashes that are generally arranged in an 8:12:8 pattern, although No. 9 has a 12:12:12 arrangement, and No. 6 has a faceted oriel. Most doors are from the 20th century, but Nos. 4 and 7 retain early six-panel doors. Originally, the ground floor had a 12-pane sash under the oriel, which still exists in Nos. 3, 5, and 7; No. 7 has the least altered frontage. Each house includes a brick gable stack, and there have been various alterations and extensions to the rear. The interiors have not been inspected. These modest properties are situated high above Trinity Road, offering extensive views to the north, and are characteristic of early 19th-century speculative development in Weymouth.
