Description

Berkeley House is a house with a shop located on Trinity Road in Weymouth, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The front of the building is rough rendered, while the sides are plain rendered. It features a broad-fronted parapet with a central valley gutter, and a gabled wing to the east that is set into the main range, creating a complex arrangement of roof slopes. The building has three storeys and an attic, with three windows.

On the second floor, there are two small flat-roofed dormers with two lights each, positioned above plain sash windows. The first floor includes a tripartite bow oriel window with eight panes on each side and twelve panes in the center, along with two twelve-pane sash windows, all set above a sill band. The ground floor features a 19th-century three-pane shop front with slight pilasters on the left and a plain square display window under a deep fascia on the right. A glazed door with a flat fanlight is set under a flat elliptical arch and is framed by a Roman Doric doorcase with an entablature. The building has a moulded cornice, a blocking course, and a coped parapet, with a large chimney stack on the right side.

At the rear, there are four glazing-bar sash windows in flush boxes, two of which serve a central staircase, along with two small square lights. The gabled wing includes a gabled half-dormer made of brick with a sash window, and a square oriel window with plain sashes on the first floor. There is also a gable stack at the outer end, raised in brick. The interior has not been inspected.
