Description
19 and 21 High Street is a house with a shop, dating from around 1800, with facades that have been adapted for a 20th-century building. The exterior is rendered and colourwashed, and the roof is not visible behind the parapet.
The building has three storeys and four bays, with the first bay projecting and differing in detail from the others. There is a band course between the floors, but this is only present in bays two to four. The building features a moulded cornice with a plain parapet above. A later 20th-century shop front is set within a rendered surround, with pairs of entrance doors in bays one and three, both located in recesses beneath a deep fascia. Above the shop front, there are sash windows in unmoulded architraves, all with 12 panes. The panes on the first floor are long in proportion, while those on the second floor are almost square.
The facade from around 1800 is a significant feature in this important streetscape. The interior has not been inspected.
