Description
Even Keel Cottage is a pair of houses dating from the early 19th century, with some alterations. The exterior features white painted roughcast on brick and a slate roof, with a single-depth two-unit plan and additional structures at the rear.
The building has two storeys and a two-window range. The former No. 85 has a rectangular 20th-century small-paned top-hung casement window on the ground floor, and an older square window with similar glazing on the first floor. The former No. 87 features a 20th-century bow window in the center, an older two-light sliding sash window to the left at a higher level, and a square-headed doorway with a glazed door to the right. The first floor has a window similar to that of former No. 85. Both houses have gable chimneys.
Even Keel Cottage is associated with former fishermen's houses on this road and contributes to the character of the surrounding area.
