Description

Chara Cottage is a pair of houses located on Shellfield Road in Southport, likely built in the late 18th century and altered over time. The exterior features white painted roughcast, probably over brick, with a slate roof. The buildings are single storey with a single-depth plan, and there is a 20th-century addition at the rear. The front has one window on one side and three large 20th-century casements on the other. The interior has not been inspected. Chara Cottage is part of a group of similar houses on this road, which have all been altered but still represent the pre-industrial character of the area.
