Description
Old Spanker's Cottage is a house located on Liverpool Road in Formby. It is probably from the 18th century and has undergone some alterations. The cottage is constructed of limewashed brick and features a thatched roof. It is a single-storey building with an attic and has two bays, along with a later addition of a one-storey lean-to bay on the left side.
The ground floor has segmental-headed windows with horizontally sliding sashes, while the attic includes two gabled dormer windows that also have similar sashes. There is a central gabled porch, and the first bay contains two entrances, one of which likely leads to a separate store room. The cottage has gable-end stacks and coped gables, and the right side has a small horizontally sliding sash window. At the back, there is a low rear wing.
