Description

Dean’s Cottage is a house likely dating from the 16th century, and originally constructed with a cruck-frame. It is built of brick and has a half-hipped thatched roof. The house is one storey high with an attic, originally consisting of three bays, with a later bay added to the east end. The windows have small panes of glass, and some feature horizontally sliding sashes. There is one chimney stack on the rear ridge, and another on the original eastern gable end. A porch with a hipped thatched roof has been added. Inside, the central room extends the full height of the house and displays an exposed cruck truss alongside through parlins. A large stone fireplace, a 20th-century addition, is also present. The house now fronts onto Park Road.
