Description
This building is a barn, now used as a store, located approximately 5 meters north of Hurst Cottage. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond, with a slate roof. The barn has an L-shaped plan, consisting of a two-bay range on an east-west axis and a one-bay wing on the south side of the second bay.
The first bay features a tall segmental-headed wagon doorway, complete with a keystone and stone hinge-anchors. The west gable wall includes a three-light window, which may have been inserted or restored. The wing contains diamond-pattern breathers, a segmental-headed loading doorway in the gable wall, and three doorways in the rear wall, all with stone lintels. Inside, there is a bolted kingpost roof truss.
