SD41SE MOSS LANE 663-1/3/22 (East side) Forshaw's Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Probably later C18; altered. Stucco on brick, stone slate roof. Double-pile formed by a double-depth front range with a parallel but shorter rear range; plus a short back extension to this. Two low storeys, 2 windows, symmetrical; with a rendered plinth and cement quoining; a central gabled porch with a square-headed doorway and altered door, and two 3-light sliding sash windows on each floor, all with small panes and those at ground floor segmental-headed. Gable chimneys. The left return wall has sliding sash windows of 2 and 3 lights at ground floor, and a similar 2-light window above. The rear has a small lean-to porch in the angle, with a very small 4-pane window in the side wall; the rear range has a back-wall chimney; and the back extension is a single-storey wash-house containing a C19 fireplace and washing boiler. Forms a group with the barn approx. 10m south (q.v.).
