Description
Forshaw's Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 18th century and has been altered. It is constructed of stucco on brick with a stone slate roof. The building has a double-pile layout, consisting of a double-depth front range and a shorter parallel rear range, along with a short back extension. It has two low storeys and features two symmetrical windows. The façade includes a rendered plinth and cement quoining, a central gabled porch with a square-headed doorway and an altered door, and two 3-light sliding sash windows on each floor, all with small panes. The ground floor windows have segmental heads. There are gable chimneys on the roof.
On the left side of the building, the return wall has sliding sash windows with 2 and 3 lights at ground level, and a similar 2-light window above. The rear of the farmhouse includes a small lean-to porch in the angle, which has a very small 4-pane window in the side wall. The rear range features a back-wall chimney, and the back extension is a single-storey wash-house that contains a 19th-century fireplace and washing boiler. The farmhouse forms a group with a barn located approximately 10 meters to the south.
