Description

Trevell Farmhouse is a farmhouse with probable origins in the 18th century, which was extended in the later 18th century, early 19th century, and mid-19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and has a stuccoed front elevation. The roof is covered with bitumen-coated slate, featuring a gable end on the left and a hipped end on the right. There are brick shafts for the end stack on the left and an axial stack near the right end.

The original plan of the house is uncertain, as it has been built in several phases. The rear elevation shows at least two straight joints, indicating extensions, while the front is stuccoed. It is possible that the central part of the rear elevation is the earliest section, with a parallel range added to the front, creating a double depth plan. The house was further extended to the left and right, likely in the early and mid-19th century. The entrance is located to the left of center and is flanked by two principal rooms. A third room on the lower right side has a separate entrance and may have been divided off as a cottage. The rear range contains extensive service rooms, including a large kitchen at the rear right and a large dairy at the rear left.

The exterior features two storeys and an asymmetrical four-window front elevation, which was likely remodeled in the mid-19th century. The front is stuccoed with raised quoins and includes a 19th-century porch with a flat roof. The round-arched doorway has a 19th-century door and margin glazing bars on the sidelights. This is flanked by two six-pane sash windows, with a part-glazed porch from the late 19th or early 20th century to the far right. The first floor has three six-pane sashes and a four-pane sash to the right. The rear elevation remains unaltered, featuring complete 19th-century windows and a 19th-century panelled door. The interior has not been inspected.
