Description

A row of terraced houses, likely built in the mid to late 18th century with extensions in the early and mid 19th century. The houses are constructed of stone rubble with slate roofs; the roof on the right is hipped, returning with a wing to the rear, while the roof on the left has gable ends. Stone rubble end and axial stacks are present.

The original layout is unclear, comprising four houses built in differing phases. The house on the left is probably the latest addition, dating to the mid 19th century, with a double-depth plan featuring two principal rooms at the front, flanking a central entrance; this entrance is accessed via a 6-panel door set in a dressed stone round arch opening with a blind radiating fanlight. Heating is provided by end stacks. A parallel range to the rear likely contains service rooms. To the right are three smaller cottages. The central cottage probably originally had a 2-room plan with a cross or through passage and was heated by end stacks, and has been extended to the left with a one-room plan cottage and to the right with a two-room, double-depth plan cottage, now partly used as a garage.

The left-hand house has an asymmetrical 3-window front, with the entrance to the left of centre; a 6-panel door is set in a dressed stone round arch with a blind radiating fanlight. There are 2-light casement windows to the left and a 2-light and a 1-light casement to the right on the ground floor. The first floor has three 2-light casements. The remaining houses display an asymmetrical 2:3:1 window front with 19th and 20th century doors, garage doors, and 2 and 3-light casement windows.

The interior has not been inspected.
