Description
Trewanta Park is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private house, likely dating from the early 18th century. The building is constructed of stone rubble, which is rendered and painted on the ground floor, while the upper section is hung with rag slates. It features a bitumen-coated rag slate roof with gable ends and a hipped end for the stair projection at the rear. There are stone rubble end stacks, including one for the kitchen on the rear left.
The layout consists of a double depth plan with a central entrance that leads to two main rooms heated by end stacks. At the back, there are narrow service rooms, with the kitchen on the left and a dairy on the right, surrounding a central dog-leg staircase. A small 20th-century extension has been added to the rear right.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical front with three windows, all hung with rag slates above the ground floor. Near the center, there is a 20th-century porch flanked by two modern PVC windows, with three more windows on the first floor, all set in their original openings. The rear elevation features a stair turret that rises above the lower service rooms, and the roof of the chamber above the dairy, which is now a bathroom, has been raised.
Inside, there is a wide passage and a simple 18th-century dog-leg staircase with a ramped rail, square newel post, and stick balusters.
