Description
The Hesketh Arms is an inn, likely built in the late 18th century, with some alterations. It features scored stucco on brick, painted white, with black-painted quoins and a low-pitched hipped slate roof. The building has a square three-bay plan and stands three storeys tall with a symmetrical facade. The central door has six fielded panels and a traceried semi-circular fanlight, framed by an open pedimented surround supported by two engaged Tuscan columns with fluted entablatures and a moulded open pediment above. The ground and first floors have 12-pane sash windows, while the second floor has 6-pane sash windows. There is a moulded eaves cornice and chimneys on the gable walls. The rear of the building has been altered, and the interior has also been modified. A two-storey modernised wing to the left is not included in this listing.
