Description

Deepdale Head Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century or early 19th century, and more recent changes. The building is constructed of slobbered rubble and has a graduated slate roof. It has an irregular T-plan, consisting of a single-depth range of two wide units aligned on a north-south axis, facing west, with a rear wing and an extension at the south end.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and features a four-window main range. In the center, there is a large single-storey gabled porch with plain square-headed outer and inner doorways. To the left, there is a late 18th century or early 19th century six-light mullioned window with a plain surround and flat-faced flush mullions. To the right, there are old chamfered mullioned windows with three and two lights, which have a continuous stone slate dripband above them. The first floor has four square windows, all with six panes; the first two are tilting casements, while the others are top-hung. The left gable wall and its chimney have been recently rebuilt, and there is a ridge chimney at the junction to the right. The two-window extension at the south end includes a square-headed doorway, a tilting casement to the left, and top-hung casements above. The rear of the building features some through-stones and small windows in the main range, along with a gabled service wing at the rear of the north bay.

The interior has not been inspected, but it is likely to contain some historical features of interest.
