Description

Docklesyke Farmhouse is probably from the early to mid-18th century and has been altered since. It is constructed of grey-washed rubble stone with a stone slate roof. The farmhouse has a transitional single-depth plan, comprising two wide units with a full-width rear outshut beneath a catslide roof, oriented on a north-south axis and facing east, built back to the road.

The two-storey, four-window façade is almost symmetrical. The ground floor features a wide gabled porch centrally located, a four-pane sash window to the left, and a larger square four-pane sash window to the left. A continuous drip-band runs over these windows. There are two two-light casement windows to the right. The first floor has four widely spaced, rectangular two-light casement windows. Wrought-iron gutter brackets are present, and there are gable chimneys. A small lean-to outbuilding is attached to the south gable wall.

The north gable is constructed of through-stones. The northern end of the outshut features a square-headed doorway, a small square opening above it, and a corner chimney. The southern end of the broader southern portion of the outshut has a small two-light casement window and a slit window above.

Inside, there is a stone lateral partition wall and two lateral beams in the main housepart.
