Description
West House Farmhouse at Whernside Manor Farm is a farmhouse that likely dates from the mid-18th century and has been altered over time. It is constructed from roughly coursed rubble with quoins and is painted white, topped with a stone slate roof. The building has a single-depth, two-unit plan oriented approximately north-south and faces east, with a lean-to extension at the north gable.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and features a symmetrical facade with two windows. It has a gabled porch with a doorway on the right side and a square window in front, flanked by two square windows on each floor. All of these windows have been fitted with 20th-century double-glazing. The building has gable chimneys and a three-light window in the lean-to on the right. The rear and interior of the farmhouse have not been inspected. It forms a group with the barn at Whernside Manor Farm.
