Description

The Eagle and Child Inn is an inn that likely dates back to the 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It features a brick exterior with pebbledash, a stone plinth, and quoins, topped with stone slate roofs that are at three different levels. The building has a rectangular plan with four bays and an extension on the left end that is set back. There are gable end and two ridge chimney stacks.

The inn is two storeys tall, with varying heights: the left extension is lower, while the bay on the right end is higher than the central range. The central range has doors in the first and third bays, which have stone jambs and entablatures. There are five rectangular ground floor windows of different sizes, all framed in moulded architraves with keystones and fitted with casements. The first floor windows also have similar frames; one in the higher right bay is tall and sashed, while three in the central range are rectangular casements (the middle window has three lights, and the others have two lights each). The first bay features a circular window, and the left extension has a plain eared stone frame. The interior has square beams that have been much altered.
