Description
The entrance gate and lodge to Worden Park, built in the early 19th century, are constructed entirely of ashlar stone. The gateway features a round-headed arch with a scrolled keystone, flanked by Doric demi-columns that support a plain entablature with a prominent moulded cornice and a stepped parapet. The plinth and impost string are decorated with vermiculated masonry, which is also present in the voussoirs. Adjacent to the gateway is a postern gate with a rusticated splayed head and jambs. The lodge is designed in a classical style and has a T-plan, with the longer side facing the drive. It is a single-storey building with pedimented gables, low-pitched slate roofs that have overhanging bracketed eaves, and a chimney at the junction of the roofs. The lodge features rusticated quoins, sash windows with glazing bars, and architraves.
