Description
St. Andrews Church of England School is a school building dated 1837. It is constructed of stone with a slate roof, featuring chamfered stone gable copings adorned with ball finials at the apex and kneelers. The building has an F-shaped plan, with the main range displaying two unequal forward projections on the right side. It is a single storey structure designed in the Jacobean style, characterized by stone mullion and transom windows.
The left side includes a gabled porch topped with a ball finial and kneelers, while the right side consists of two forward wings connected by a doorway with straight coping. An octagonal chimney on a square pedestal rises between the roofs of the wings. The first wing, which is shorter, features a rectangular stone plaque with an architrave in the center of the gable, inscribed with:
D.O.M./SIT GLORIA/NATIONAL SCHOOL/Erected by public/ Contribution/1837
The second wing has a tall three-light mullioned and transomed window at the front. All windows are designed with pointed heads and hoodmoulds.
