Description
No. 100 Fox Lane is a cottage that is part of a group of five Farington Almshouse Trust Cottages, which includes Nos. 92, 94, 96, and 98. The building is constructed of brick and features a graded slate roof. It has a rectangular plan and is symmetrical, standing at one and a half storeys high. The gable chimney stacks are notable, especially the one on the left, which projects and breaks through the eaves at the apex.
The cottage has a gabled porch with a round-arched opening, adorned with wavy bargeboards and a finial. On either side of the door, there is a three-light casement window, each with a chamfered brick head and a straight drip-mould above. The building also features two gabled attic dormers, each with two-light casements, wavy bargeboards, and finials. The overhanging eaves of the gables also display similar bargeboards. Additionally, there is a small diamond-shaped painted hatchment attached at the first floor level of the chimney stack on the left end.
