Description

The White Lion Inn is an inn that dates from the 18th and 19th centuries. It features coursed limestone and stone slate roofs, with brick stacks at the ends and sides. The building has two storeys plus an attic and a three-window range, following a two-unit plan with later additions.

At the center, there is a 19th-century four-panelled door framed by wood pilasters and topped with a flat hood supported by consoles. On the left and far right, there are 19th-century canted bays with sash windows. In the center and on the first floor to the left and center, there is a three-light, 18-pane casement window with wood lintels. To the right on the first floor, there is a 19th-century four-light window containing 50 panes, with a single transom, one six-pane light, and an opening casement, all beneath a wood lintel. The building also has three 19th-century gabled dormers.

Attached to the right is a thatched range from the 18th century, featuring rendered cob or stone walls. This section includes a 19th-century plank door with a wood lintel, a small three-light window to the left, a larger three-light casement to the right, and another 19th-century three-light casement on the first floor. Inside, the inn is noted for its chamfered spine beams.
