Description
New Barn Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1839 at the first floor, though it is likely older. It is constructed of watershot coursed sandstone that has been whitewashed, and it features a stone slate roof with gable chimneys. The building has a three-bay plan and is two storeys tall, exhibiting an almost symmetrical design. There is a single-storey gabled porch with a plain-surround doorway. At the ground floor, there are two stepped multiple-light windows, and above, there are three windows, all with top-hung casements in the middle light. On the left side, there are three lights at the ground floor and five lights above. Above the porch and on each floor to the right, there are triple windows with narrower side lights. Left of centre at the first floor is a recessed square stone inscribed with the date "A". The barn continues at a lower level to the right, inscribed with "J & B 1839", and there is a front outshut that embraces the house, which is not included in this listing.
