Description

Lower Chapel Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse, probably from the early 18th century, that has been altered and is now derelict. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features a stone slate roof with two ridge chimneys. The building has a T-shaped layout with a single-depth, three-bay plan and a short wing at the center of the east side, which includes a porch.

The farmhouse is two storeys high, and the front facing the lane has irregular window arrangements. The windows are either mullioned or square, with those on the ground floor featuring thin hoodmoulds. The windows at the right end on both floors have double-recessed heads, while the first-floor window at the left end has three small lights that are blocked. The right (south) gable has a plain doorway and a square two-light window on each floor. The rear of this bay includes one vertical rectangular light with a long hoodmould that extends to the right. The wing has a plain doorway offset to the left, with one window on each floor and another on the left side. There is also a later lean-to in the further angle. The north gable features a raised doorway, a window to the left, and a small cellar light below it.

Inside, the middle bay has chamfered beams that are supported at the south end by a steel beam, which replaces the former inglenook bressumer.
