Description

The Friends' Burial Ground is an enclosure associated with a Quaker Meeting place, which was used as a burial ground from 1663 to 1847. The walls of the burial ground were rebuilt in 1847. The dry stone wall surrounding the simple rectangular enclosure stands approximately 2 metres high and measures about 15 by 12 metres. There is a gateway on the north side that leads from the lane, featuring a lintel inscribed with "Friends Burial Ground 1663, the walls rebuilt 1847." The walls previously included a stone ledge for seating on the inner side.
