Description
Waingate Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1755 that has been altered and is now used as a house. It is constructed of coursed sandstone and features a tiled roof with gable-end chimneys positioned in front of the ridge. The building has a double-depth, two-bay plan, with a large lean-to garage added to the rear of the second bay.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and is almost symmetrical in design. The doorway, which is slightly offset to the left of centre, has a moulded lugged architrave and a moulded pediment above it. Above the doorway is a decorated datestone inscribed in relief with "T L E 1755". There are two windows on each floor; the two on the left are both three-light windows, while the two on the right are both six-light windows featuring a flush king mullion. All windows now appear to have painted wooden mullions.
A moulded gutter cornice runs along the top, with a rainwater head to the right of centre that is also lettered like the datestone. The left side of the building has a plain doorway, two small windows on each floor, and an attic window. The rear openings are of less interest, except for one two-light flush mullion window located on the first floor.
