Description

Laund Fold Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century and has been raised and altered over time. It is constructed from coursed sandstone with quoins, mostly covered in roughcast, and features a stone slate roof with a brick chimney, some of which is visible on the first floor from the inside. The building has a three-bay baffle-entry plan with a projecting porch.

It stands two storeys high and includes a plinth and a band at the first floor. The two-storey gabled porch aligns with the ridge chimney at the junction of the first and second bays; it has a lower level made of sandstone blocks, a plain doorway, and a roughcast first floor with a sashed window. To the left of the porch is a wooden lean-to, while to the right are recessed chamfered mullion windows with five and three lights, and an inserted door between them. The first floor features four sashed windows, all with four panes, except for the middle bay which has six panes.

The left gable wall includes a three-light mullioned window at the ground floor. The right gable wall is mostly obscured by a lean-to addition that has a corner chimney, but it also has a small attic window and a gable chimney. The rear of the farmhouse includes a formerly mullioned three-light window in the middle bay and a five-light window in the third bay, although one light is blocked.

Inside, the farmhouse features stop-chamfered beams on both floors of the first bay and a roll-moulded beam at the ground floor of the middle bay. Renovations were in progress at the time of the survey in 1985. Additionally, there is a barn to the north that has a relocated datestone, likely from 1702.
